Chaos in the Cage

The Antelope Valley Fair hosted an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) event know as Chaos in the Cage this past Saturday afternoon. Starting the night off was an hour and a half delay. It's unknown as to why, there were several rumors such as, security checking, mat was too hot, and so forth. Hanging out in the 90+ degree sun wasn't the most thrilling thing, but well worth it, in the long run.

Results:
Giovanni Sarran def. Cody Goodale  by UD
Sean Choice def. Mike Fraizer by Sub rd 2. 2:46
David Mancha def Stu Young by Sub RNC rd 2. 2:05
Jose Aldrete def Miles Howard TKO 2:42 rd 1
Marcos Gonzalez def Tony Daulton UD
Tyler Moug def Joshua Aveles UD
Daniel McWilliams def Josh Green TKO 2:25 rd 1

Throughout the afternoon/evening I heard opinions of various fans in the arena area. Mostly mixed opinions is what I could gather. Many complaints saying it was weak, cheesy, sucked compared to UFC / major events, all the fighters weren't worth the price of admission and so forth. Yes, I did hear some very pleasent compliments such as, great event, tightly secured, friendly, awesome fights, greatful to have MMA in the Antelope Valley, etc..

Of all the fan opinions, this particular fan thinks the event was AWESOME!! Come on people what do you want for $15- $65.00 ticket prices? Those MMA fighters gave their best and entertained us for a couple hours. The atmosphere, weather were incredible and friendly. Some of the fighters came out into the crowd and shook hands with fans. Plus, thanked us, the fans for attending the event. That is admirable and a huge plus for fans such as myself.

Jason "Mayham" Miller attending the event as a guest was also a huge plus and a treat for us fanatics such as myself. Thank you Mayham for coming out and signing autographs. We are very grateful!! Good luck to you in your future fights. I for one am anticipating a rematch with Jake Shields.

In closing, I'd like to thank Chaos in the Cage and ask they please continue coming to our home, the Antelope Valley. I am a huge loyal fan!! Thank you for a wonderful show!!!

Lakers vs Jazz

Lakers looked awesome today at the Staples center. Kobe 31 pts, Gasol 25 pts and 12 rbs, and 3 guys with double digit rebounds - Bynum 10, Odem 12, and Gasol 12. Kobe and Gasol both went 7-7 at the free throw line.
Utah Jazz looked nice also, 5 guys in double digit scoring. Thankfully the Lakers were able to hold them at bay and take game one.

Mosley vs Mayweather

Last night boxing match was interesting up until the 3rd round. Mosley nearly KO'd Mayweather in the 2nd. Mayweather came out in the 3rd a completely different fighter from the previous 2 rounds and dominated rounds 3-12. Personally I don't care for Mayweather, but I am man enough to give the man his due. Mayweather was able to survive Mosley's power in round two and go on to showcase his incredible boxing skills. Congrats to Mayweather for a masterful win!!!

Everyone, including myself want to see Mayweather vs Pacman. After watching the HBO shows with Mayweather and Mosley leading up to their fight and viewing last nights interview with Floyd, I am going to side with Floyd on the dope testing. As Mr. Mayweather stated last night, "I only want a level playing field", I and any decent fan would have to agree - there is nothing wrong with his legitimate request. Shane Mosley stepped up and excepted the Olympic type doping testing and I, along with others give him huge respectful props for doing so. I have a new found respect for Mr. Mayweather after last nights match. I support him 100% in the doping requests. The costs of the doping tests should not be an issue, they, everyone involved make enough money to allow the testing.

WEC 48 - Aldo vs. Faber Match-ups

Tonights WEC card on PPV;

Aldo (current champ) vs. Faber  (Featherweight championship)
Benson Henderson (current champ) vs. Donald Cerrone (Lightweight Championship)
Mike Thomas Brown vs. Manny Gamburyan
Anthony Njokuani vs. Shane Roller
Scott Jorgensen vs. Antonio Banuelos
Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung
Anthony Pettis vs. Alex Karalexis
Brad Pickett vs. Demetrious Johnson
Chad Mendes vs. Anthony Morrison
Takeya Mizugaki vs. Rani Yahya
Brandon Visher vs. Tyler Toner

Tonight's card is an awesome card in my opinion, however, I do not think it's worth the 50 dollar asking price. There is a UFC event basically every month and now UFC wants us, the fans to fork up another $50.00, no way. The average, basic fan can not afford $100.00 a month. Suggestion to UFC, combine these two championship match with a UFC PPV. People know I am a major MMA fan, but I will not throw down another $50 for this event.
What do you think, feel??

Life w/o a cell phone.

It's been some 30 hours or so without my beloved phone. Who would have ever thought a cell phone could cause such an intense feeling of being lost, empty, etc., surely not me. Sadly enough, I must admit, w/o the phone I don't know anyones number, thank God for the backup Google email, contacts, calender and docs, or big trouble.

Last nights Strikeforce

Well, I picked 1 out of 4 right, lol. Shields continues to impress me, surviving the first round was incredible. Shields completely dominated rounds 2-5 by keeping Henderson on his back for most of the fight.

As for the brawl after the main event, it was a disgrace to MMA! The Diaz brothers are a couple of thugs!! Need I say anymore? I hope they get suspended. Mayham did not go in the ring to start a fight, he merely was asking for a rematch. Fighters do it all the time.

King Mo used his wrestling skills to keep The Dream Catcher fighting off his back for 5 straight rounds. Mousasi couldn't figure out how to deal with Mo's powerful wrestling skills. Mousasi was taken down at will all 5 rounds.

Strikeforce: Nashville event

Tonights Strikeforce card features;

CHRIS HAWK VS. OVINCE ST. PREAUX
JASON "MAYHEM" MILLER VS. TIM STOUT
CHAMP GEGARD MOUSASI VS. MUHAMMED "KING MO" LAWAL
CHAMP GILBERT MELENDEZ VS. SHINYA AOKI
CHAMP JAKE SHIELDS VS. DAN HENDERSON

I am gonna go Mayham, The Dream Catcher, Aoki and Hollywood Henderson. Personally, I think Mousasi is the best Light Heavyweight in the world. Some will disagree and that's fine by me, it's just my opinion.

As for Henderson, Jake Shields is an awesome fighter, but I just don't see him catching Henderson. Jake will get punched harder tonight than he may have ever been in his life.
